The patch is ok now, an it works really great. I'm now able to serve 400
req/s behind apache, instead of 20 req/s during my early benchmarks  ;) .
I'm also using zope 2.7, and there are no problems with it.
I hope your patch will be included in mainstream VarImage.

This patch optimizes the Zope VarImage Product by Asansis Spaceworks (version 2.3.1). It fixes a few minor issues that were preventing caching from working at all in the version of Zope I'm using (2.6.1), and adds an extra optimization to allow cached images that partially satisfy a processing request to be used in completing it.

Download the VarImage product from Asansis Spaceworks and then apply this patch. Note that you don't *need* this patch, because VarImage works fine as it is. This patch just makes it faster! (Submitted to Asansis Spaceworks.)
